Notes:

I had only the baby today but realized as I headed out to run that the single stroller was in the trunk of my husband's car. So I pushed one child in a double jogger. Not fun but I guess it is better than two children in a double jogger!

I took it easy today. I also discovered that pushing a double jogger up a hill is downright ridiculous.

HM Training Pace

I am set to "race" a half-marathon at the end of September with my DH, brother and sister-in-law. Knowing that I will be 3.5 months post-partum at the time I do not have high expectations. And yesterday's Garmin run was quite humbling.

I figure since I ran the meat of yesterday's run at 9:30-10:30 pace I'm going to start my HM training out at 10:00 pace. (Normally I would trim 30 seconds of per mile to account for pushing the jogger but I probably should err on the conservative side).

I can readjust as my fitness (hopefully) improves.

Wow, I am a long way from my 1:37 HM PR :(

Distance: 4+ miles

Notes:

10min walk; 35min running; 10min walking

The other day I felt really good on my run and had the suspicion I was in the general vicinity of my old pace pre-baby.

So I took the Garmin out on my run for the first time since I got pregnant. I was a tad bit off. Like in WAY off. Once I got a pace established I checked my watch and was horrified to see I was busting out 10:00+ min miles. Sure I was pushing a baby jogger, but still... My former self didn't even warmup at that pace. Needless to say I was put squarely back in my place. Humble pie anyone?

Mommy Runner Routine

When I was just a runner by running routine consisted of:
1. Put on running clothes
2. Grab MP3 player and head out the door
3. Drive to park
4. Run
5. Drive home

Now that I am a mommy runner (x2!!!) my routine is a tad more complicated:
1. Put on running clothes
2. Change two diapers and dress two kids
3. Pack snacks, water, toys, picnic lunch, picnic blanket and double jogger into car
4. Load two kids into carseats
5. Drive to park
6. Unpack car and load double jogger with aforementioned supplies and kids
7. Run while handing out goldfish, sippy cups and finding awol pacis
8. Stop to see animals at the nature center
9. Run some more
10. Stop to have picnic
11. Change a diaper and nurse baby
12. Push toddler on swings
13. Run some more
14. Unload stroller and put two sleeping kids back in car
15. Drive home

10min walking; 30min running; 10min walking

I headed out to the new park on my own and felt pretty good. By the end I had a nice tempo going. I think I am going to do my next run with the Garmin to see where I am at so I can set the course for my half marathon this fall. (More on that later) After the run I felt mentally great - 6 weeks post partum and I can run 30min straight. YEAH!!!
